The creators of the first Jewish Confirmation classes wanted their students to study, question, and struggle with what it means to be Jewish in the contemporary world.  This year, TBC’s Confirmation program, developed by Rabbi Bearman and Education Manager Jennifer Haynos, reflects these same goals.  In each grade, our students will have the opportunity to engage with traditional texts, demonstrate their ethical convictions through social action opportunities, and have deep and respectful conversations about their beliefs.  We will challenge our students to think critically and creatively and are excited about what is sure to be a dynamic year.

Course Descriptions:

8th Grade: This year the 8th grade class will explore some of the most creative ways to express spirituality.  Students will connect to Judaism through art, music, nature, yoga, and more.

10th Grade: This year’s 10th grade program will focus on this important question: How will my Jewish Identity shape my future?  We will translate traditional Jewish values into contemporary situations, explore creative ways that people connect with Judaism, and live out our Jewish values through social action projects and trips.

Each class will have meaningful social action opportunities that will enhance and engage their classroom learning experiences.  These programs will include helping the homeless, advocating for just causes, and working with the elderly. Each will be a wonderful and moving experience for our teens!

If you are interested in joining the Madrichim program this fall and would like to be a role model for younger children please join us and become part of our wonderful team of Madrichim (student leaders).  Your participation will make a difference to our students, and you will gain valuable leadership experience.
