PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

My mitzvah project was for Cookies For Kids’ Cancer; I raised money specifically for the Dana Farber Cancer Center.  I chose to do this because many people and fundraising organizations focus only on adult cancers, while pediatric cancer is just as important of a cause.  Did you know that only 70 cents of every $100 raised for cancer goes to pediatric cancer?  After learning this, I decided that I wanted to find a way to help children who are diagnosed with cancer, even if it’s just in a small way.

This project really helped me understand how hard it must be to have cancer at a young age.  It taught me that I should be extremely grateful for my health, and that I should try to give back in any way that I can and as often as I can.  To do this, I baked hundreds of cookies from scratch and sold them to family and friends.  I have raised over $1,500 to-date.  All of the proceeds went towards kids with cancer.
